Varnish is a web application accelerator, which has been gaining a lot of popularity lately, because it can increase the speed of any site, at times even by 100 percent, based on the content. This tool is sometimes called a caching HTTP reverse proxy too and is used to lower the overall load on the physical machine and to enhance the access speed for the site visitors. Anytime a visitor opens a page on a specific site, the web browser request is taken care of by the web server and the requested info is delivered as a response. If the Varnish accelerator is enabled, it caches the pages that the visitor browses and in case any of them is accessed for a second time, it is delivered by Varnish and not by the server directly. The performance boost comes from the fact that the accelerator processes the browser requests significantly faster than any web server, which leads to much faster browsing speeds for the site visitors. If any content is edited in the meantime, the cached webpages will also be ‘refreshed’ the next time somebody attempts to access them.

Varnish in Cloud Website Hosting

Varnish comes as an optional upgrade with each of our cloud website hosting. You can add it to your website hosting account through the Hepsia Control Panel, which is available with all shared hosting packages and you will get a really intuitive graphical interface, which will grant you full control over the data caching system. Using one-click fast-access buttons, you can reboot or delete any of the instances, i.e. Varnish will no longer be activated for a given website. You can also view an in-depth log or erase the cache for any of the websites. When you add Varnish to your web hosting package, you’ll be able to choose the total amount of memory that will be available to you for content caching purposes and how many websites will use Varnish. You can always order more memory in increments of 32 MB and, for top performance, you can set a dedicated IP for the sites that will use Varnish. This will allow you to take full advantage of your sites and to have plenty of happy site users.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers

The semi-dedicated plans offered by us will allow you to use Varnish once your new semi-dedicated account has been opened, since the caching platform comes by default. 64 MB of system memory will be assigned to Varnish the moment your account is enabled, so you can take advantage of this workload distribution software as soon as your website has been published on the Internet. If you’re in need of more system memory, you can get 32 megabytes at a time from the Hepsia Control Panel’s Upgrades section and it will be assigned to your semi-dedicated machine in a flash. You can also increase the number of the Internet sites that employ Varnish, or the so-called ‘instances’, which are not directly bound to the amount of memory that you use, which suggests that you’ll have more flexibility. The platform will greatly lower the load on the machine caused by your websites, so your site visitors can enjoy fast-opening pages. You will be able to manage the Varnish caching platform effortlessly through your Hepsia Control Panel using fast-access controls. You will be able to start/terminate any of the instances that you have, to delete the cached files for any of your sites or to see system logs.

Varnish in VPS Servers

You can use Varnish with any of our VPS server plans at no additional charge, as the platform is pre-installed and is included by default. The only condition is that the Virtual Private Server must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you’ll be able to activate Varnish for any of your Internet sites with just a few clicks. Each plan offers a different amount of system memory for content caching purposes, but you will have no less than several hundred MB, which is quite sufficient even for several busy Internet sites. Soon after you set up the Varnish platform, it will start caching the content that your website visitors request, so you will notice the tremendously better webpage load times and the lowered load on your server in no time. The Varnish caching platform will allow you to use a less high-priced VPS, as you won’t require that much power to ensure the uninterrupted operation of your Internet sites even if you run large-size websites with a lot of visitors. Optimal results are achieved if the websites that use Varnish also use a dedicated IP address.

Varnish in Dedicated Servers

If you order a dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you will get Varnish at no extra fee and you will exert full control over it via a truly simple-to-use GUI – you will be able to start, to remove or to reboot an instance, to browse an elaborate system log, to delete the cached files associated with any website and much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several gigabytes of memory at its disposal, so even if you manage resource-heavy websites with an immense number of visitors, you’ll notice the significantly faster web page load speeds and the lowered load on the dedicated server. This will happen shortly after you start using the Varnish platform, since it will need some time to cache the website content that visitors open. You can get the most out of the platform’s capacity if the sites that are using it use also a dedicated IP address, but since your dedicated server includes a few IP addresses by default, you won’t have to pay anything on top of the monthly charge for the server itself.
